VENANGO COUNTY, PA – A failure to yield led to a collision Monday afternoon, July 15, in Sandycreek Township that injured a 19-year-old woman, reports Explore Venango.
Pennsylvania State Police Franklin said the accident happened in front of Corner Food Market, located off 15th Street and Pittsburgh Road. It was first reported at about 12:35 p.m.
According to investigators, an 82-year-old Polk resident was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala when he emerged from the business lot and onto the roadway, failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Moments later, the Chevrolet entered the direct path of a 2014 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on 15th Street. The Nissan’s driver, a 19-year-old Oil City resident, tried to avoid the other vehicle but the vehicles collided.
The Nissan driver, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to UPMC Northwest.
Officials said the the driver of the Chevrolet, who was not reported hurt, was cited for a traffic violation.
No further details have been shared, but both drivers were said to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck.
