Woman Struck By U-Haul Truck In Pittsburgh Hit-and-Run Incident

PITTSBURGH, PA – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident in Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon that left a woman critically injured.

According to the City of Pittsburgh’s news release, police, fire, and EMS responded to a reported collision involving an SUV and a U-Haul truck at the intersection of Hamilton and Brushton Avenues at about 2:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a woman was driving the SUV when the vehicle was involved in a crash with the truck driven by a man.

Both drivers stopped their vehicles and the woman got out of her SUV and engaged in an argument with the U-Haul truck driver. Witnesses said the man then fled the scene and, in the process, struck and injured the woman, reported to be 70-years-old.

She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. A man who was a passenger in the SUV was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
