Semi strikes overpass, closes part of US-40 near West Brownsville

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA – A section of U.S. Route 40 was shut down Wednesday near West Brownsville after a semi-truck struck the Knob Road overpass, according to WTAE.

The incident had a span of the highway between State Route 43 (Mon-Fayette Expressway) and State Route 88 (California Road) blocked in the immediate aftermath. It was first reported by WTAE shortly before 11:18 p.m.

At this time, local officials have not released any information about the cause of the wreck, but the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation later updated that a single lane between Wilson Road and Old National Pike had been reopened for passing traffic.

No major injuries or hospitalizations have been confirmed following the collision, and it’s unclear whether another vehicle was impacted.
