Head-on Collision In Westmoreland County Injures 2 Adults, 5 Children

LIGONIER, PA – Two vehicles were involved in a head-on wreck in Ligonier Township on Monday morning, according to TribLIVE.

The crash, involving a Porsche and a Chevrolet Suburban, took place at about 8 a.m. along Route 711. Ligonier Valley police said it happened after one of the drivers, an 18-year-old Latrobe man driving the Porsche, apparently crossed over the center line and collided with the Suburban, driven by a 34-year-old Ligonier woman.

Two adults and five children involved were transported to area hospitals. One man was listed in serious condition after being airlifted to Conemaugh Hospital. One of the children was in stable condition after being flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The other five were taken by ambulance, and were said to be in stable condition.

Mutual Aid Ambulance spokesman Shawn Penzera was quoted as saying the incident happened near an ambulance station on Route 711, and crews responded quickly.

Route 711 was shut down for several hours for the accident response and investigation.
