Man Injured When Vehicle Goes Off Road, Crashes Into Tree In Penn Township

PENN TOWNSHIP, PA – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a car accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County on Tuesday morning.

According to TribLIVE, the crash occurred in the area of mile marker 60 in Penn Township. A driver reportedly went off the turnpike at about 8:20 a.m. and crashed through a fence. The vehicle then hit a tree and overturned.

The man behind the wheel was extricated from his vehicle by the first responders, which included the Penn Township Ambulance squad and the Harrison City Volunteer Fire Department. He was transported to Forbes Regional Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Officials said the man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
