PITTSBURGH — A traffic incident on I-279 North caused disruptions for midday travelers on Thursday, officials reported.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced at noon that an accident had blocked the shoulder on I-279 southbound, just past the Cemetery Lane/Perrysville exit (Exit 5).

Details about the nature of the accident or any potential injuries were not immediately available.

Despite the shoulder blockage, all main travel lanes remained open. However, motorists were advised to exercise caution when passing through the area. Should any additional details come to light, our team will provide those updates via this news blog.
