Tractor-Trailer Accident Injures 1, Shuts Down Stretch Of Southbound Route 28

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – Police and emergency crews were dispatched to Pennsylvania 28 in Etna Tuesday evening following an accident involving a tractor-trailer.

A report by WTAE states that the truck, carrying diesel fuel, struck a barrier and overturned on the southbound side of the highway shortly before 6 p.m. One person was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

The crash resulted in a spill of at least 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel. Crews from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection were involved in the cleanup to prevent some fuel that spilled into Pine Creek from going into the Allegheny River.

The roadway was shut down for much of the night before reopening at about 3 a.m.
