Driver Cited After Crash With School Bus In Butler County Injures 2 Students

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, PA – A driver was cited following a collision with a school bus in Butler County on Thursday afternoon, according to the Butler Eagle.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the driver of a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu went through a red light at the intersection of Chicora Road and the entrance to Route 422 at about 3:11 p.m. The Malibu crashed into the back of a Butler Area School District bus, and a third vehicle was also hit in the accident.

Of the 42 students who were on the school bus, two were taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries, while seven others were evaluated at the scene.

The driver of the Malibu, identified as 89-year-old Eugene Wranich of Kittanning, was cited after the incident for vehicle code violations.
