Man Hit, Seriously Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Homewood That Killed Dog

PITTSBURGH, PA – Authorities rushed a person to a local hospital in critical condition Thursday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in Pittsburgh, reports WPXI.

The collision unfolded on Washington Boulevard (State Route 8) near Mr. Magic Car Wash, in the Homewood area. It was first reported at about 2:00 p.m.

While it’s unclear exactly what happened, first responders arrived to find one person trapped beneath the wreckage. Despite efforts from EMS personnel on the scene, the victim was extricated from the vehicle. Shortly after, however, the patient was extricated and then rushed to a nearby hospital, where they died from their injuries.

According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, a dog who had been in one of the vehicles at the time of the impact, darted away from the scene. They were later hit and killed by a different driver.

An investigation by Pittsburgh police remains underway.
