LAWRENCE COUNTY, PA – Three people, including two juveniles, died as a result of a single-vehicle collision early last Saturday on State Route 65 in Slipper Rock Township, reports www.EllwoodCity.org.
The triple-fatal crash happened on a stretch of the southbound highway between Hogue Road and Fridays Hill Road, at about 12:30 a.m.
A PA Police Report indicates a 43-year-old man was driving a 2019 Nissan Armada southbound at a high rate of speed when the SUV entered the northbound travel lane and then veered off the roadway. It proceeded to hit two utility poles before running through a yard and then colliding with a car parked in the driveway. From there, the SUV launched into the air and struck several trees before coming to rest on the parked vehicle.
First responders pronounced the male driver and two passengers, 17 and 13, deceased at the scene.
An 11-year-old passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh for critical injuries.
A span of Route 65 was shut down in both directions during the emergency response and investigation, which remains in progress.
