3 hospitalized after multi-vehicle wreck in Liberty Tunnel

PITTSBURGH, PA – A crash involving three vehicles Thursday evening in Pittsburgh’s Liberty Tunnel sent three people to a hospital, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The multi-vehicle wreck unfolded nearly 100 yards into the tunnel’s inbound lane, a stretch that runs through the Beltzhoover neighborhood. Pittsburgh Public Safety said the incident was reported shortly before 6:45 p.m.

While the circumstances behind the accident remain unknown to the public, officials said two vehicles had to be removed from the area.

No information regarding the condition of the three victims has been made available, and it’s unclear whether anyone is expected to be charged or cited.

By the time of Post-Gazette’s update shortly after 9:00 p.m., crews had cleared the scene and the impacted inbound lane had been restored to traffic.
