In 2023, Benjamin J. Baran joined SMT Legal, focusing on personal injury, criminal law, landlord and tenant law, and more. Before joining SMT Legal, he practiced civil and criminal law for five years in Allegheny County and the surrounding counties, representing clients before Magisterial District Courts and Courts of Common Pleas.
Benjamin graduated The Pennsylvania State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Political Science. While at Penn State, he was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha – National Political Science Honor Society, serving as Treasurer, and participated in the Penn State Alternative Breaks program.
He earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2017. During law school, he won the CALI Award for Core Competencies for Legal Practice and participated in the Juvenile Defender Clinic.
Benjamin is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Allegheny County Bar Association, Duquesne Law Alumni Association, and Penn State Alumni Association. He lives in the South Hills with his wife and son and participates in adult co-ed soccer.
