ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – A man died last Friday evening, August 2, after being found with a gunshot wound following a collision in Ohio Township, according to CBS News Pittsburgh.

The incident took place on a stretch of Ben Avon Heights Road near Gass Road, just below Interstate 279. Allegheny County Police were dispatched to the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Officials said officers arrived to find the man in cardiac arrest, and a number of good samaritans administering CPR.

Despite the emergency efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital at about 7:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that medical staff learned of the man’s gunshot wound at the hospital, but it was not immediately clear whether he died from injuries sustained in the gunfire or in the apparent single-vehicle crash.

An investigation by the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit remains in progress. No charges have been reported at this time.
