FAYETTE COUNTY, PA – A driver being pursued by law enforcement authorities crashed into a post office building in Fayette County early Tuesday morning, reports WTAE.

Fire crews said the driver, a man in a pickup truck, was being chased when he struck the postal facility on Liberty Street in Vanderbilt Borough at about 1:45 a.m. The driver was reported to have fled the scene on foot after the collision.

The crash caused extensive damage to the building, but no injuries were reported. The post office was not yet deemed structurally sound enough to be secured.

Postal officials said incoming mail would be diverted from the Vanderbilt Post Office to the Dawson Post Office.

Pennsylvania State Police in Uniontown are investigating the incident.
