LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Three people, including two children, lost their lives early last Saturday, July 20, in Penn Township as a result of a two-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer, reports WTAE.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the fatal wreck occurred on a stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate. 76) at around 4:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a truck tractor was hauling a set of double trailers when it hit a Honda Accord in the right travel lane. The impact caused both the car and the big rig to run off the roadway.
Officials confirmed that the driver of the Honda, a 43-year-old Baldwin, New York resident, and their two passengers, ages 18 and 11, of Pittsburgh and Baldwin, respectively, all succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
No information about the truck driver or potential charges has been released at this time. PSP troopers continue to investigate.
