ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – One person suffered serious injuries in a rollover wreck Sunday morning, June 30, near Sewickley involving a tractor-trailer, reports ABC17 News.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes of Interstate 279 that run above Mt. Nebo Road. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 3:30 a.m.

According to preliminary information collected by Pennsylvania State Police, the big rig, which was carrying produce, collided with a barrier. The truck then rolled off the interstate bridge and landed onto Mt. Nebo Road.

The driver, who sustained major but non-life-threatening injuries, was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital.

Following the crash, dozens of crates of vegetables could be seen strewn along a nearby hillside and in a creek.

At least part of Mt. Nebo Road was shut down during the emergency response.

Investigators have not indicated what led up to the rollover or if another vehicle may have been involved.
