PITTSBURGH, PA – Five people were injured in a massive pileup during icy road conditions in Pittsburgh on Thursday morning.

According to a Facebook post by the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, a collision involving 22 vehicles occurred at 6 a.m. on the Boulevard of the Allies ramp leading to the Forbes Avenue ramp coming off I-376 eastbound in Oakland.

The injuries were minor, and the five victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Traffic was snarled along the Parkway East as crews towed a number of vehicles away from the scene.

Drivers were advised to be aware of traffic delays in the area and drive with caution due to the roads becoming slick from precipitation and frigid temperatures.
