Woman Killed In Crash On Eastbound Side Of The Fort Pitt Tunnel

PITTSBURGH, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in the Fort Pitt Tunnel, according to TribLIVE.

One person was killed in the crash, a 62-year-old woman from Pittsburgh’s Summer Hill neighborhood who was pronounced dead after being taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The eastbound lanes of the tunnel were closed to traffic after the incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. Lanes reopened about an hour later once the scene had been cleared and investigated.

No details were released on the circumstances that led to the accident.
