CENTER TOWNSHIP, PA – Two people died following a multi-vehicle wreck that occurred in Indiana County on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
According to CBS News Pittsburgh, the incident took place on Warren Road near King Hill Road in Center Township.
Pennsylvania State Police learned that the driver of a GMC SUV was going east at high speed shortly before 3 p.m. As the driver tried to negotiate a right curve in the roadway, the vehicle entered the westbound lane and collided with a Ford Focus.
The SUV continued into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into a Toyota Corolla that had been traveling behind the Focus. The SUV then hit an embankment and overturned. The Corolla also overturned and ended up in a nearby yard, while the Focus came to rest on the shoulder of Warren Road.
The GMC driver, a 57-year-old man from Indiana, Pennsylvania, and the Corolla driver, a 34-year-old man from Kent, Pennsylvania, both died at the scene. The Focus driver, a 31-year-old man from Indiana, Pa., was not injured. A passenger in the Corolla, a 33-year-old Kent woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries while her unborn child was pronounced dead.
State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
