Driver Killed When Pickup Truck Slams Into Tree In Westmoreland County

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – Authorities released details of a deadly vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening in Westmoreland County, CBS Pittsburgh reports.

The incident took place on North Greengate Road in Hempfield Township. The Westmoreland County Coroner stated that the driver of a pickup truck went off the roadway shortly before 6 p.m. and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Hempfield Township, was pronounced dead after being transported to Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which was being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
