Ligonier woman, 83, Dies In Rollover Accident on Route 30 In Unity Township

UNITY, PA – An accident in Westmoreland County on Thursday morning claimed the life of an elderly woman, according to a TribLIVE report.

Pennsylvania State Police said the driver of a Mercedes SUV was traveling on Route 30 in Unity Township when the wreck happened near Kingston Dam at about 10 a.m. The vehicle went off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

A passenger in the SUV, an 83-year-old Ligonier woman, died after being taken to an area hospital. State Police said the driver may have had a medical emergency prior to the accident. The driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Route 30 eastbound was shut down in Unity and Ligonier Townships for several hours while the crash was being cleared and investigated.
