PITTSBURGH, PA – A collision involving multiple vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, snarled traffic on Route 28 early Friday, according to a report by WPXI.
The incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes between the Millvale and Etna exits, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Emergency responders found a passenger car lodged beneath a tractor-trailer, the Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company reported. Firefighters worked to extricate one person trapped in the backseat of the car.
The injured individual was transported to a nearby trauma center. Their condition was not immediately available.
The crash forced the closure of the affected stretch of Route 28, causing significant traffic backups during the morning commute.
