PITTSBURGH, PA – Police and first responders were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh on Friday night.
According to WPXI, a woman was hit by a car at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Neville Street shortly before 7:20 p.m.
Investigators determined that a driver was heading outbound on Fifth Avenue when the driver of an inbound vehicle tried to make a left turn onto Neville Street. The driver of the outbound vehicle swerved to avoid a collision and struck an adult female pedestrian.
Emergency crews found the woman unconscious and transported her to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. The man who struck her with his vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police officers.
The accident remains under investigation by the police department’s Collision Investigation Unit.
