BEAVER COUNTY, PA – The Chippewa Township Volunteer Fire Department released details of an accident that occurred at a highway tollbooth in Beaver County last week.
According to a Facebook post, the department was alerted to the crash Dec. 19 at about 7 p.m., after a tractor-trailer slammed into the booth on Interstate 376 at the Chippewa Interchange.
The driver and his service dog were transported to a medical center in Beaver with undisclosed non-life threatening injuries to the driver.
The accident caused significant damage to both the truck and the tollbooth, and also resulted in a large fuel spill that had to be cleaned up.
Eastbound traffic was shut down on the interstate from the Beaver Falls exit ( exit 29 ) to Route 51 while the scene was being cleared. Pennsylvania State Police from Gibsonia investigated the crash.
