ERIE COUNTY, PA – About 10 to 12 juveniles sustained injuries Wednesday morning when a charter bus crashed into a home in Erie County, reports ABC27.
The accident unfolded in the 4900 block of Route 215, in East Springfield, at around 10:20 a.m. Pennsylvania State Police and West County first responders were called to the area shortly after.
According to a preliminary investigation, about 40 students and teachers were aboard a charter bus heading out for a day trip at Camp Fitch. As the bus entered the intersection with Route 20, it ran off the roadway after nearly colliding with a produce truck. While the box truck struck some trees before coming to a rest, the charter bus hit and heavily damaged the front of a nearby residence.
Crews had nearly a dozen kids transported to a local hospital for what appeared to be minor or moderate injuries.
The PSP are handling an investigation into the circumstances of the wreck.
