Rollover Crash Involving Washington Police SUV Leaves 2 Injured

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA – A marked police cruiser was struck by another vehicle Wednesday night in Washington, injuring two people, including a city officer, reports Post-Gazette.

The wreck unfolded on a stretch of Jefferson Avenue at Hall Avenue, shortly before 12:00 a.m.

According to a preliminary investigation by Pennsylvania State Police, the officer was driving a marked police SUV with emergency lights and was en route to a domestic incident about a mile away. As they crossed the intersection, the cruiser was struck by another vehicle.

Both vehicles were sent spinning until both struck separate poles. The police SUV was thrown onto its side while the other driver was ejected from their vehicle.

Officials confirmed that both the officer and the other driver were the only occupants involved. Both patients were taken to UPMC Presbyterian. The officer was released by Thursday morning following treatment, but the other driver’s condition remains unclear.

An investigation remains ongoing.
