Man airlifted to hospital after major injury crash on I-79 in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY, PA – A 32-year-old driver suffered serious injuries Monday night as a result of a crash involving another vehicle on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township, reports WTAE.

While the exact location was not provided, local police said the collision took place on the northbound lanes while the victim was driving in the right lane.

At one point, a driver in the left lane tried to merge into the victim’s lane, prompting the victim to veer off the roadway to avoid a crash. The abrupt maneuver caused the victim’s vehicle to hit an embankment and roll several times.

The victim, who was ejected during the wreck, sustained serious injuries. He was flown to a hospital in the Pittsburgh area where his condition remains unclear.

No other injuries were reported following the incident, and no charges or citations have been confirmed.
