PITTSBURGH, PA – Authorities responded to a bike-vehicle collision late Sunday afternoon in east Pittsburgh that ultimately claimed the life of a six-year-old girl, reports Patch.
First responders were dispatched to the scene on Rosedale Street near Tacoma Street, in the city’s Homewood South neighborhood, shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Preliminary details show that the young girl was riding a bicycle in the area when she was struck by a vehicle.
The victim, who was found lying in the roadway, was rushed to Children’s Hospital for traumatic injuries and was listed in critical condition. Officials said she was pronounced deceased shortly after.
The involved driver, a woman who has not been identified, stayed on the scene and cooperated with an investigation, which remains ongoing.
No pending charges or citations have been reported.
